Carver High School in Memphis, TN is a small school of four hundred students. The population consist of 100% African American students, and twenty percent of the population has an IEP. Class size range between twenty to twenty-five students, my biology class has five students with IEPs and five other learners who struggle with reading. Students with IEPS have accommodations for one on one instruction and extended time on assignments. The best way for me to diversify my lesson to accommodate learners is to create heterogeneous groups and give each group extra support to reinforce individual and group learning needs.

I will also provide internet access by use laptop carts in my class during this project. This will allow all learners to be able to access information and collaboratively work to investigate taught concepts. Learners who have specific learning needs such as extra time on task and read aloud will be accommendated by group members during collboration. I will assist students with specific learning needs that are not addressed during collboration, all students will also have access to rubrics that will be used to grade this project. I will review rubric with learners and address any learning concerns to ensure a conducive learning environment.
